About Me

I'm Axel, 32 years old and currently studying game programming at The Game Assembly in Stockholm.
I've been a bit of a nerd and interested in games as long as I can remember, but my first inspiration for game development came during my time at high school (or upper secondary school, whichever you prefer) as Minecraft was entering its beta phase right around the time I was studying Java programming. It was interesting to see a game with such a simple premise yet unimaginable depth being developed in the same language we were just being introduced to.
While I didn't involve myself much (or at all) with game development afterwards, when going back to studying in 2023 I decided to dive back into programming in an area that piqued my interest, which is why TGA was one of my first choices of education.
I like to think of myself as a pragmatic person and I'm always ready to pick up work where it's needed. I've tried to involve myself in different aspects of development throughout our game projects at TGA, but started moving more towards working with tools and UI programming later on during our education. While this was initially out of necessity to fill out programming roles for our projects, it later turned into a genuine interest.
In my free time I enjoy gaming and reading, although both have taken a serious toll after going back to studying full time. I'm a long-time MMORPG nerd and spent a significant period of my life raiding at a semi-serious level in World of Warcraft, peaking around a world rank of 15. Playing in different guilds and with varying levels of leadership and responsibility taught me a surprising amount about working with others and keeping a diplomatic mindset.
My favourite background noise when programming is Synthwave, D&B, or doomscrolling parrot videos on Youtube.
I am part of The Game Assembly’s internship program. As per the agreement between the Games Industry and The Game Assembly, neither student nor company may be in contact with one another regarding internships before April 23rd. Any internship offers can be made on May 5th, at the earliest.
